For this reason, the Piginor line of distinctive tools are made to exceptionally high standards - the same standards we use for all the hundreds of tools we make - by the artisans at Red Pig Garden Tools just outside Portland, Oregon. These tools are forged in heat, hammered and shaped mainly by hand at the anvil, and then sharpened and coated with a clear enamel. We use only American hickory handles, turned in the southeastern United States. Our labels are printed in the USA. We ship the tools nation wide to our dealers, who are then able to make Piginor tools available to their local customers through local bricks and mortar store locations.
What makes the Piginor line of tools unique, compared to those we sell directly through our Red Pig Garden Tools brand, is that Piginor is based on a curated selection of our best selling and most easily used tools, adapted with design features based on customer requests for strong but lighter weight tools. For this reason, we use a 3/8" square steel rod for our Piginor tool shanks to provide strength in a heavy duty and long lasting tool that is going to be slightly lighter in weight than our Red Pig line (made mainly of round 7/16 and 1/2 inch stock). For most gardeners, Piginor offers more than enough strength and durability (these tools will last a life time with proper care and use) at a weight that is still distinctively heavier than the tools of most other manufacturers who make their tools light in weight from pressed steel. The extra weight helps with durability, and often enables work to be completed with less strain on the gardener's muscles.
